Prop Making

In first year we have a module which is called rotations, so basically we get two weeks in each subject to then pick as a minor. My major is costume so I was quite worried about trying other subjects as I know nothing about props, construction, design or scenic art. As scared as I was about trying new things I actually enjoyed prop making there was so much I didn't know about props, I always thought they just bought things in for shows so that was an eye opener for me.

I got the chance to do some sculpting which I found really difficult but really fun, as always I used Tim Burton as my inspiration for the items that I made. The method in which to get the final result was quite interesting, first using water based clay sculpt your design then cast in with plaster of paris then depending on what it is your making there's lots of materials to make your sculpt from, I forget what I used but my sculpts are solid.

I then went on to play around with prosthetic's makeup and fake blood, this was really disgusting my tutor made a cut look so really I thought I was going to pass out. I must admit as disgusting as it was it was actually quite fun to create fake wounds. I wasn't as creative as my class mates as you'll be able to see.
