The Hills Are Alive..................

Every year the family and I have a big BBQ which is themed so to attend you mus dress up, last year was the 1980s this year we stepped it up abit, the theme was night at the movies in which you had to dress up like a movie character. Everyone made such an effort and looked fabulous it was such a good laugh.

Me being the geek that I am I decided to dress up as my favourite musical character which is maria from The Sound Of Music. I wanted it to be authentic to be just like Maria and make my very own Maria dress. Using the tea dress pattern from Love Sewing Magazine u used a mixture of recycled materials in beige, brown and cream fabrics to look similar to what Maria would use. I even managed to incorporate some vintage lace I have collected over the years.

It took me a few weeks to get this dress just the way I wanted working hard so people would actually know who I was dressed like without me having to give out clues. I even bought a smaller guitar to carry about with me I love to sing also so I would’ve even sang Do A Deer if it come to it.
